Semi Frameless Glass Fence Installation Guide

Fit the first post
Install your first post onto a wall or into the ground and ensure that it is “plumb” in both directions and the correct height.

Check the fence height
The usual final height of the fence is 1265mm, this will give you a gap of approximately 60mm under the fence, you may want to install the fence higher but the maximum gap between the bottom of the fence and the ground should not exceed 100mm so your fence complies with swimming pool regulations.

Fit the end post
Secure your last post into the ground or onto your wall and level or “plumb” it on both sides, don’t concrete the post at this stage as it is only being used as a sighting post.

Attach your plumb lines for other posts
Once the last post is in position and “plumb” run a taught string line between the two posts. The first line should be about 200mm up from the ground and another about 100mm down from the top of the post. Doing this will mean that as long as your end posts are “plumb” then as your next post installed touches both string lines at the same time the post will be “plumb” against the line.

When concreting in your posts
We recommend that every post should have at least 30kg of concrete around the post to secure it properly. The concrete should surround the post and fill the hole to a level just below the surface.

Make sure your fence is level
A good level should be used across the top of every post installed to ensure your fence is level. Every post installed needs to be checked for top and side levels, as well as the correct direction of the captive pocket. The pocket needs to be facing the direction the fence is headed.

Install the last post properly
Once your second last post is installed, remove the last post (sighting post) and install in its correct position.

Insert a rubber seat into each post
A rubber grommet needs to be placed on the inside of the posts to protect the glass from the base.

Inserting the glass panels
Gently lower the glass into the posts, lowering it down as level as possible, you want to avoid one side lowering faster than the other as this could cause the glass to jam or break. Ensure that the glass is positioned evenly inside both posts.

Glazing the glass panels
When installing the glazing rubber, the side that looks like a tick goes toward the glass. Keeping the rubber in a bucket of warm water makes it easier to use. Do not cut the rubber into lengths. Locate both ends of the roll, start installing the rubber to both sides of the fence at the same time with around 40mm of rubber protruding from the top of the post. Once you reach the bottom of the glass gently pull down on the rubber and cut flush with bottom of the glass. Push the protruding rubber into the post to secure. The rubber should have a smooth flat line the entire length of the post. Gently stretch the rubber at the top of the post and cut flush with the top.

Hide the post pocket using a post cap
Silicon the posts caps onto the top of all posts

Cleaning the glass
Washing the glass is best performed with clean cloths and a bucket of warm water. If there is any sand on the glass lightly hose it off before you begin to wipe the glass over. Washing or rinsing your cloth regularly will make the process a lot easier.
